
izzy/ixxi is a creative integrating experimental sound with visual and theoretical practice, as well as an educator in futures and cultural theory at UAL. Coming from a background of design, creative strategy and futures, she’s also a cultural organiser, Dj, and curator exploring percussion, ritual and sound. She co-hosts syncop8 on Subtle Radio and the ESEA Sisters show on Voices Radio, platforming artists across the East & Southeast Asian diaspora, and also co-founded Green Lions. Her performances draw on Chinese musical heritage, percussive instrumentation, electronica, temple rituals and chants, sensorial listening and visual culture. Trained in wind gong and Chinese & Taiko drumming, the performance at Softer, in collaboration with @metal_upa and part of the collective ‘Reciprocity’, will use participatory audio-visual experience to convey wu wei (無爲), Eastern philosophy and spirituality through sound, ritual, incantations, and alternative sensorial models in space.
