Aging and Obsolescence

What have you learned to forget in order to keep up? In a time shaped by constant updates, upgrades, and quiet disappearances, obsolescence is not only a technical condition, but a lived experience.

What have you learned to forget in order to keep up? In a time shaped by constant updates, upgrades, and quiet disappearances, obsolescence is not only a technical condition, but a lived experience.

This roundtable invites you into a shared space for reflecting on what it means to age alongside technology. Together, we will explore how memory, forgetting, and time shape our relationship to digital life, and how experiences of obsolescence are felt in the body, in work, and in everyday habits.

Through guided reflection, storytelling, and discussion, participants are invited to share lived experiences, thoughts, and unfinished stories. You might recall a technology that shaped your coming of age, a skill you were encouraged to leave behind, or a moment where you felt out of sync with the pace of change.

Join us for an afternoon of collective reflection, conversation, and story telling. No preparation is needed, and sharing is always optional. Silence, listening, and half-formed thoughts are welcome.

Designing Spaces for Attention

Your attention is one of the most valuable things you own. And yet, it is constantly pulled, shaped, and given away. In this hands-on workshop, we invite you to rethink your relationship with your phone by designing a physical place for it to rest; an altar, a holder, a small architectural gesture of intention.

Your attention is one of the most valuable things you own. And yet, it is constantly pulled, shaped, and given away. In this hands-on workshop, we invite you to rethink your relationship with your phone by designing a physical place for it to rest; an altar, a holder, a small architectural gesture of intention.

Using accessible AI tools, you will “vibe design” your own object — moving from feeling to image to 3D form. Through guided prompts and experimentation, you will generate and shape a design that reflects how you want to live with your device, rather than be led by it.

The workshop is open to anyone curious about spending less time on their phone, becoming more present at home, or exploring new ways of creating with AI and 3D tools. Whether you are completely new to 3D or already familiar, this session offers a different, intuitive approach to making.

You will leave with a ready-to-print 3D file, and perhaps a new ritual for where your phone belongs.

We will provide access to the tools (Leonardo AI and Meshy AI). Please bring your own laptop.

Join us for a beginner-friendly TouchDesigner Workshop! Here, you’ll get to explore how to create your own audio-visual projects without writing a single line of code - while still allowing tons of creative possibilities

We’ll walk through the core building blocks called Operators, where we will focus on the ones used to handle images and video (aka TOPs). After the introduction, there is time to experiment and begin your own small project. You’re welcome to bring images or video to play with, but it’s not required. Prior coding experience can be helpful, but it’s not required — just bring your own laptop with TouchDesigner installed (free for non-commercial use).

Enter The Cloud

Welcome to Enter the Cloud. An interactive immersive exhibition taking place at SOFTER Lab. Together with 10 participants we have explored how digital futures shape both our lives and our planet. Through conversations, investigations, and shared reflections, we delved into the layers of technology that usually remain invisible.

The process culminated in a collective work, Enter the Cloud — a shared dystopian exploration of how the digital landscapes of the future are simultaneously inspiring, seducing and extractive, and how we as humans can navigate them with awareness and responsibility.

Queer Coding Club is a monthly club for people who identify as queer. A social space to hang out with other queer techies: develop your skills with likeminded people, work on your personal coding projects, get creative.

This is a separatist coding club for people who fall somewhere on the queer spectrum, in order to create a social space different from what you might find at work or at school. No level of coding skills required, newbies very welcome! But please note that the organizers are not facilitating a coding class. Everyone is bringing their own projects. Questions, helping each other and chit chat is encouraged. Drop by for an hour or the whole day. We will provide snacks, bring your own laptop.
