Who are the care’tech’ers of the future?

Inspired by the current exhibition “Soft Robots” SOFTER invites you to an evening exploring the idea of care for technologies. Care has always been a fundamental part of life. Yet as technologies increasingly shape our everyday experiences, questions of care are often left aside. What will it mean if we care for our technologies? How can softness, intimacy, and connection be embedded into the digital systems and machines we live with? And what does softness look like in our technological futures?

Yet as technologies increasingly shape our everyday experiences, questions of care are often left aside. What will it mean if we care for our technologies? How can softness, intimacy, and connection be embedded into the digital systems and machines we live with? And what does softness look like in our technological futures?

This evening unfolds as a shared exploration of care as a technological practice. Through listening, speaking, and discussion, we will consider whether learning to tend to our technologies, and to listen more closely to their languages, can become a way of navigating, understanding, and resisting the extractive logics of big tech.Join us at Copenhagen Contemporary for an evening that begins with time to explore the exhibition, followed by artist talks, conversations, and a shared meal.

Digital Care Lab

How does your digital self feel today? And who might you become in a softer, more intentional digital future?

How does your digital self feel today? And who might you become in a softer, more intentional digital future?

In this workshop, we’ll explore our current relationship with technology, imagine what a desirable digital identity could look like, and create a symbolic avatar to guide that becoming: a seed, a talisman, a small signal from a future you.

Through reflection, guided meditation, and creative making, we’ll rethink how we want to show up online, with more softness, honesty, and care.

We’re excited to be back for our second SOFTER Social in London, this time in collaboration with London College of Fashion at their new campus in East Bank, Stratford.

We’ll be hosting a drop-in salon format of our socials, where you’ll have a chance to meet others in the SOFTER network, learn more about our initiatives and share knowledge.

Most importantly, we’ll have Tigris presenting a demo of her latest work Emotional Alchemy which looks at the relationship between AI and scent — an immersive olfactory installation that materialises conversations, emotions and expressions of identity into bespoke fragrances, capturing the unique contour of our individuality.

Softer Digital Futures: London 2025

We are back for another iteration of Softer Digital Futures, London! Join us for a soft and immersive day exploring what a softer digital future could look like, including talks, panels, workshops, art, performances and communal dining.

We are back for another iteration of Softer Digital Futures, London! Join us for a soft and immersive day exploring what a softer digital future could look like, including talks, panels, workshops, art, performances and communal dining.

This year we are going to delve into themes surrounding the relationship between nature and technology. We're interested in how we can utilise ecological thinking and more-than-human design to inform our digital lives and practices. We are curious about regenerative systems, the process of rewilding the internet, and consider how we can use empathy and mindful innovation to design softer digital futures.

We'll start off the day with a full programme from 11:00 onwards and run late into the evening with snacks, lunch and drinks served. From 7pm there will be a delicious dinner cooked by a local chef followed by a party
